Virtual Memory and Loss of thought track

Hello,
A short I have just finished, (whew), render time was around 14:00 hours and change for 22 minutes of NTSC 720x480. I am running 2x 2.6 ghz Intels with .512 gig memory. If I increase my virtual memory would the render time be shortened?

Also I can't find my keys, if you know where they are please email me straight away.

Best Wishes,
Marty

Render times probably will not change. However you can do RAM renders with more memory and if you don't change anything in that section, it's prerendered. However, vegas does not have robust prerenders, they disappear, if you change anything.

Memory doesn't have much to do with final renders.

I guess the other thing to point out is that Vegas will use one CPU for the video render and one for the audio render. Guess which one finishes first?

You could drop a mark in the middle of your project and then render one half in one instance of Vegas and the other half in another instance. Then they should stitch back together nicely. Does that sound reasonable?

Virtual memory just uses the hdd. you won't get any speed increase there. If you are seeing that the system is using a lot more page file while rendering then you should get more RAM.

I'll send you your keys when you send me my cellphone.

Now now ... it's easier than that. Dial your cellphone number. When someone answers you simply ask, "Where are you?" ;)

And what about my keys?

Just step outside with the door to your home locked. I promise, the moment the door shuts, you'll remember exactly where you left them in the house. I'm extremely experienced at this.

OK I try i but, just in case I am going to take Rob's cell phone with me.
The remote control is also an issue.
