Visiting nested timeline slows down playback

I have been chasing a playback smoothness problem recently with VP18. As you can see in my signature, my pc should be enough for 1080p projects. After a fresh startup of VP, playback is perfectly fine. I almost exclusively use the JKL keyboard shortcuts and very often reach the 20x playback rate and it is still smooth, even with 4k projects. After some editing, I noticed the playback would no longer be smooth, it would skip. Not necessarily at 1x rate but higher playback rates. Shutting down VP and restarting cures the problem, smooth again.

So I tried to find out what was the manipulation that would make the playback stutter. Turned out I isolated it to opening a nested timeline to do some edits and returning to the parent. Playback is no longer smooth in the parent timeline, again not at 1x but at the higher rate. I can only solve it with a restart of Vegas, making the Open Nested timeline feature somewhat useless.
