Vista/Vegas not seeing XDCAM

Hello! Our Vista computers are not seeing our PDW-F330, so therefore neither is Vegas 7 or 8. On our XP machines we had to install PDZ-1 software (free from Sony), but this software (v2.21) does not help Vista see the XDCAM.

Any help, or even pointers to other discussion fourms, would be greatly appreciated!

AFAIK, PDZ1 currently doesn't support Vista.
Are you not seeing the XDCAM in XP, either?
The cam is in FAM mode?

Thanks so much for confirming this! We have been going crazy. . .

Camera is in FAM mode, and we see the XDCAM in XP, not a problem. But not Vista.

As a workaround, we downloaded the files on the XP computer (to an external hard drive), then moved the drive to the Vista computer, which could see the files but did not handle the proxys as it normally would -- in other words, it couldn't replace the proxys with the full mxf files -- and we also got an audio glitch somehow in the full files.

Are we the only people trying to use the PDW-F330 with Vista in FAM mode? Has anyone come up with another solution? I saw that the software for the new EX supports Vista, would that work with this camera?

Different software, different drivers, different wrapper for files....
Haven't tried connecting the F350 to a Vista machine, none of our editing machines will be Vista until they absolutely have to be (likely long after these machines are trashed off).
If you copied the entire disc to HDD, Vegas should see it in the XDCAM Explorer browse.

Thanks, Spot! We did not try browsing to the files in the XDCAM explorer, we'll try that. Also, I saw another potential solution on the DVinfo site: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=98342
Someone named Greg Boston suggested hooking the camera to an XP machine, and sharing the camera over the home network so the Vista machine can share the drive.

Greg is right; his suggestion is presented in his XDCAM training DVD from VASST as well. I'd forgotten that option.
Greg is a member of the Sony ICE team for XDCAM, and a super-smart guy.

We found another way to bring in XDCAM footage into Vista. We have a Mac Pro running OS10.5.1, and we've used BootCamp to install Vista on a separate partition. The Mac side sees the XDCAM disks, and we can import them via Final Cut Pro. Then when we switch to the Vista side, and using MacDrive 7 (so Vista can recognize Mac drives), we can access the mxf files.
Not a solution I'd recommend anyone buying, but if you are already running a dual boot system it works.
