I installed Movie Studio Platinum 10 on a Windows 7 (32) laptop and received the dreaded "Failed to initialize script host" error during the splash screen. I have read every thread that comes up in a search of the forum on this subject and have tried the complete re-install as suggested in the Sony KB article https://www.custcenter.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4388/related/1
I have also run a repair of .NET through Control Panel and run the FixDotNet utility from Microsoft. There were no problems reported. I did try installing DVD Architect and it worked fine. I have uninstalled DVD Architect for now, until I solve the VMS-10 problem. This laptop was running both VMS-10 and DVD Architect when I had XP installed on it. This problem started when I did a complete wipe and fresh install of Windows 7. All other programs run fine on this laptop.
Nothing has solved this problem. I notice that most postings describe the problem and are followed by suggestions, but few, if any, report a solution. Has anyone found exactly what is happening, or not happening, to cause the failure to initialize the script host, whatever that means? I have wasted hours on installs, uninstalls, checks, etc. but nothing gets me past the error message. What now?
