Have you tried going to the ATI or nVidia site and downloading the latest drivers for your video card? This fixes problems like this more often than you might think!

This also might be related to your source video -- if it came from someplace other than a camcorder.

Thanks Steve. installed new nVidia driver - no improvement. Must be my source video from a Drift HD helmet cam. Thanks. Anything else to try?

Yes, it's probably the codec that your source video uses.

Try downloading a free utility called Media Info and opening a video clip in it.

It will show you what codec the video uses.

Drift HD shoots h264 MOV.
What version of Quicktime is installed?
There have been some spot issues reported with 7.7

Thanks for your help. I have the current 7.7.1 version of QT. The preview display works for awhile then starts flickering orange and shortly thereafter all solid orange. Rendering at 720p .mp4 craps out also.

Try rolling back your Quicktime. No promises.

The roll back of QT helped. I can do short (3 minute) videos. But, now I'm getting "low memory" errors when I render anything longer than 2 minutes.

I've done the Memory Cap Fix and bcdedit fix but am now getting an "unmanaged exception (0xc0000005) in vms11.exe. Anyone know how to rectify? Thanks.

I deleted several clips that I thought may be "suspect". I then made several small movies (only a minute or 2 long) and spliced them together to finish my project. Perhaps I was just throwing too much information into too many tracks to a 4 year old Dell. Anyway, no display problem and rendering in MP4 - 720p and 1080p went without a hitch.
