VMS 16 Platinum crashes on start - New Blue plugin issue?

Hello, just installed VMS 16 (build 109) and alas, it doesn't finish loading at the splash screen stage before crashing. It seems to wait at the "Creating video plug-in factory..." and then moves past that to crash at "Creating windows...". Have booted with Ctrl+Shift and same result. I have also attempted to boot previously working versions of VMS 15, 14 and 13 (all were working this morning before installing VMS 16) and they now all crash similarly. Vegas Pro (14) also pauses at the "Creating video plug-in factory..." stage, but then proceeds to boot and launch.

It seems likely that one or some of the plugins are causing the trouble.

Has anyone else had the same issue? All software is up to date. Windows 10 Pro.

Did the NewBlue FX come with VMS 16? If so try removing them or perhaps just moving the NewBlue folder elsewhere temporarily, preferably to another drive. Then retry.

Thanks EricLNZ for taking the time to respond. Yes, the NewBlue FX causing the issue came with VMS 16 as far as I can ascertain. Prior versions from NewBlue packaged with VMS and Vegas Pro had no prior issues when loading.

As suggested, I removed the NewBlue "Filters.ofx" folder to a different drive as they seemed to be the specific error point.

Vegas Pro 14 now boots without pausing. 

VMS 16 now runs, but pauses for quite some time at the "Creating Plug-in Factory...".
VMS 13 exhibits the same pause as 16 but also runs.
VMS 14 and 15 boot without any pause, until "Creating windows..." and then crash but with a new error indication. Both 14/15 have the same error:

At least one version of the software opens now. Will see if any other crashes occur once editing. Would be nice to be able to use the NewBlue filters of course!

If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd be grateful.

Bummer, seems VMS 16 and 13 no longer runs. Same error message as above. That's now 13, 14, 15 and 16 that fail to run, after installing VMS 16. Help!

Presumably you've tried rebooting your pc?

I had the same kind of issues with the new 14 or 15, don't know exactly which one it was.

I got the advice not only to replace all the New Blue things but to uninstall them all, clean the PC thoroughly, reboot and try again.
 And all the problems were gone. I was allowed afterwards to install those extras one by one and all went slower and slower untill again the same failure.
So deïnstalled them again and problems were gone. All VPro and VMS Pl versions started right away.
I only reïnstalled the NewBlue Titler 5 again, and see now it is slowing down again the start of all Vegas Programs but crashes none.
I was not the only one those days. Maybe trying this helps you also.

Yes to rebooting PC, of course.

It's also a new HD (running about a month) where the OS and minimal software was clean installed. So the system is pretty clean. Everything was great until VMS16 and the New Blue extras. Will uninstall piece by piece to see if something can be pinpointed. Pretty disappointing...

With the versions that fail to run I'd try a reset by starting holding Ctrl-Shift and tick the delete all cached data box. Note though that this won't work from Windows Tiles or Start Menu. You need to start from a Desktop icon or a shortcut direct to the programme exe file.

I had this problem with Vegas 14 Platinum. Re-installing VEGAS didn't work. I fixed it by updating/reinstalling some C++ redistributables from Microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads
