VMS 9 Announcement in July Newsletter ??

The July newsletter should be coming out in the next few days (May's was on 5/29 June's was 6/28), will it contain the announcement of VMS 9?

The July 2007 newsletter brought us VMS 8.

I wonder what the upgrade special pricing will be. The Platinum 8 upgrade special was $44.95. It will be interesting to see how much it will cost to upgrade to the Pro Pack given the MSRP is $129.95 as reported HERE.

Well, the official SCS Press Release was finally posted on the SCS website (Friday 7/25). I'm guessing the newsletter with more details will come out this week.

I wonder why SCS is dragging their heals in posting the July newsletter announcing VMS 9?

The stickies at the top of this forum haven't been updated either.

What's up?? Does SCS not want to give the update special pricing to the masses, reserving it to only those that received the update notice via email?

I didn't receive the update notice email. If you have, what are the upgrade prices for downloading the 3 versions of VMS 9.0? Are they the same figures listed on the SCS pages?

I posted the prices in this thread.

At the bottom of the email it states:
*Offer begins August 1, 2008 and expires August 31, 2008. Qualifying serial number required for special upgrade pricing. Offer available only when purchasing directly from Sony Creative Software via links in this email.

The links are encrypted such that my "qualifying serial number" is pre-populated in the order form. So without the email, there doesn't appear to be a way to take advantage of the special pricing. Last year SCS made the special pricing available to everyone because it was included in the newsletter posted on this site (see July 2007 link above in OP). I have no idea why they're not doing the same this time around.

To purchase without an email notification, just go up the screen and click on "Purchase", then "Upgrades". Pick VMS 9 (Standard, Platinum or Pro) and there will be a spot there to enter your qualifying serial number. That's what I did and it worked fine.

Well, there you go. Good information.

Have at it everyone!

I knew about that route, but was hopeful for a somewhat lower price than that. I plan to do it in a couple weeks after our trip.
