VMS 9 Blu-ray output – black screen

Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Version 9.0 (Build 55) running under Vista Ultimate on Sony VGN-AR790U/B laptop with all the latest updates installed.

The problem: a Blu-ray disk created with VMS 9 plays audio only; instead of the expected video – black screen is observed.

This was verified with two different players: InterVideo WinDVD and Sony BDP-S300.

Sony AVC video rendering settings:

Video format: AVC
Frame width: 1920
Frame height: 1080
Profile: Main
Entropy coding: CABAC
Frame rate: 29.970
Frame order: Upper field first
Pixel aspect ratio: 1:1 (square)
Bit rate: 20,000,000 bps

The size of the m2ts file in the BDMV\STREAM folder of the Blu-ray disk created with VMS 9 is about 9.26 GB; the length of the video was supposed to be 59 minutes and 44 seconds. The audio track is stereo, it appears the audio is encoded as 1536 Kbps Linear PCM.

The video plays fine from the VMS timeline, but not from the rendered Blu-ray.

This is a big problem. Thank you for taking notice.
