VMS colors different on different computers?

I've been using version 6 for about a year and just bought version 8 platinum. Up to now I've been mostly playing around but I'm getting ready to do a very big 8mm film to video conversion/editing/burning project so I've gotten serious about learning VMS.

Part of that is registering on the forums and reading old posts that cover topics I need to learn. Part of that was installing VMS on my work computer so I can practice and learn during lunch.

I noticed something after installation. On my home screen, a Dell 2408 calibrated with a Spyder3 Pro, the background color is a light tan. On my work screen, a NEC 2090uxi calibrated with the same Spyder3 Pro, the background color is a medium to dark gray. I find the gray color much easier on my eyes and less distracting. Why would the colors be different? Is there a way to choose the background color?

Both computers are windows XP Pro running Intel Core2 Duo processors. The only real difference is that the home computer has an NVIDIA 8600GT 512mb card while the work computer has an NVIDIA Quadro video card. Would that make a difference?

Hello,
Welcome to the forum you will find allot of help here and find great people.
One of the things you might check is what are the desktop color settings for Windows, check your video proporties and see what your theme or desktop colors are.Sony will emulate what your desktop colors are. and yes the dark gray is better on your eyes, I have been using dark gray for some time now and have found that I have less strain and it also brings out the color of the video.

With computer graphics and video its always important to set your icc profiles which is in your windows display setup

Choose a profile for your graphics editor and the same for your system profile .Normally in your preference settings, and the same icc for your printer and for Vegas

This way WYSWYG. And there are no comebacks.
