VMS Field Order Question

I am new to VMS6PLat+DVDAS and love it so far. I have been learning how to use all the features but have not yet burned a DVD with DVDAS.

All my source media is in MPEG2 format from my Sony DCR-DVD300 camcorder. These MPEG2 files have “Upper Field First” field order. After editing these files I render them as MPEG2 in VMS to be burned with DVDAS at a later time.

These newly rendered MPEG2 files are all converted to “Lower Field First” when they are rendered. The default project setting is set to “Upper Field First” but I do not see any options for controlling the field order if rendering as MPEG2.

Will this cause playback issues when I Burn and View the DVD on a TV? Does the conversion between Upper and Lower create any unnecessary loss in quality?

Thanks

No loss in quality, but a potential for problems. However, Vegas *does* know how to interpret the fields correctly, and believe me, if there are field problems, you'll notice it immediately on any image that has even the tiniest horizontal line.
Have you rendered anything out and watched it yet?
Additionally, if you use the File/Render As dialog, you can specify field order or progressive scan.
