How did you record this? If this is an .avi MJPEG from a digital camera, then you need the 8.0b version of VMS, not version 7.0.

There is a freeware MJPEG codec to use, i don't remember the url though, search for "mjpeg" in this forum.

Yes...this was recorded from a camera....you mean VMS 7 will not play these?

Yes, this is what I said. You need to find that freeware MJPEG codec to install it, OR, you need to upgrade to v8.0b which has support for them.

Getting the MJPEG codec would be best, short of that, you could convert the file using SUPER.

I must have had the MJPEG codec because I was able to load camera video into VMS 6.

Camera video is generally considered AVI Type 1 files, video editors like AVI Type 2 files. If you don't have the proper codec, then using a coverter application, like Super, is what you'll need.

Thanks MSmart ....I will give it a try.

As always...I appreciate the help.

I highly recommend AGAINST the usage of converting the video, except if it's on a lossless format. Digicam video is not of high quality and so an additional encoding layer will make things worse. If you have the time and will to encode to a LOSSLESS format, go for it. But otherwise, don't. Either try to find the freeware MJPEG codec, or upgrade to 8.0b.

Here's the freeware MJPEG codec:

Register to download it.

This is much prefered than re-encoding.
