VMS Plat 17 - Backup Created Titles / Pan/Crop Events

anthony-chiappette wrote on 5/30/2021, 3:23 PM

I have created about 30 titles that I consistently re-use in my videos. I'd like to see just those, and also back them up. I built a new computer and re-installed VMS Plat 17, and had to recreate each and every one.

Is there any way to backup the custom Titles and Pan/Crop events I have created? Also, is there a way to remove all the Preset titles installed with VMS?

ASUS Prime Z590-A Motherboard with Intel Core i7 11700 8 Core / 16 Thread 2.50GHZ, 64GB Crucial DDR4 3200 (4 x 16GB), nVidia GeForce RTX5060 8GB GDDR7, SoundBlaster X AE5 soundcard, 3 x 4TB Samsung 860 EVO SATA 3 SSD, 2 x 8TB Samsung 870 QVO SATA 3 SSD, 1 x 2TB Samsung 980 Pro NVME PICE4 SSD, 2 X WD 4 TB NVME PCIE3 SSD, 2 X Viewsonic HD monitors, LG Blu-Ray writer. Windows 11 (latest build), currently using Vegas Pro 22 latest build, and limited VP23 use to gauge performance and ease of use differences. Videos come from 2 x Sony HDR CX-405 Cameras, XAVC-S MP4 @ 50Mbps 1080P 60fps video files. (Previously: 2 x Canon HFR800 cameras, MP4 files at 1920 x 1080 60p 35Mbps).

I don't think you can remove the installed preset titles.

With your own and your Pan/Crop creations they must be stored somewhere presumably in your user AppData, but I cannot find where!

There is also (for me) a "com.sonycreativesoftware_titlesand text" subfolder in my User\Documents\OFX Presets folder. There are several SCS folders there with relatively recent dates so it appears Vegas Movie Studio is still using SCS in places!

The first thing is simply to place all those 30 on a single track and save as TitelsMaster1.vf and back up.

As Eric point, if you saved them as presets than their xml's are in

.....\Documents\OFX Presets\com.sonycreativesoftware_titlesandtext\Generator

so backup them also for later use.

Yes, you can. I recently described here how to: Text and Titles (vegascreativesoftware.info)

Thank you. I read that thread, but like the OP of that thread, it's seems a bit daunting to me.

I don't know what is daunting about renaming a folder called Presets to Presetsx. VMS just doesn't load in that case the installed preset titles. Renaming Presetsx back to Presets and the installed presets are back again.

There were instructions in that thread about changing XML files - that's the daunting part, but now I realized that was for a different purpose. Renaming a folder to hide the built in presets is easy enough.

Thank you.
