VMS/VMS Platinum training

Vegas Movie Studio training DVD is shipping in a few days. Look towards the bottom of the page.
Several people have emailed about the Vegas Movie Studio +DVD training disc we've done, so wanted to let you know where you can see some preview streams. The DVD is coming off the replicator now, so should be shipping in a couple days. We won't start taking orders until the discs are physically back in our warehouse, but that should be early next week.
Hope this helps some of you looking for learning resources for this application.

Is the training based on VMS 6?

Thanks.

I looked at both of the free streams on the web site. Looks inviting. I would like to view a content outline for this training DVD.

I wish someone could do some more tutorials like those built into the product where it actually walks you through the steps. Is that possible?
Spot|DSE wrote on 3/21/2006, 11:04 AM
You can find a complete chapter list on the VASST VMS pages

The tutorials built into Vegas are exclusive to Vegas. Whilst other tutorials could be made similarly, the majority of folks don't like them. CDRom-based training doesn't seem to be popular, which is why most training companies have moved away from them. Additionally, they are significantly more expensive to produce, which raises the cost of training. I'd assume this is why you're not seeing readily available training of this sort from most training companies.

Well I ordered the VMS training video this morning. Hope it helps me out. I was useing Pinnacle Studio and have been for 2 years. But its time to move on because of all the thing wrong with the software now. VMS a big learning cruve. So anyway I'll report back on the traing video after I get it and use it.

If you click on the link in the first posting of this thread, you will see that they initially were going to sell the product for $39.00. When you go to their product page, it now says $49.00. Seems like they got a little more greedy.

I was hoping to be one of the initial buyers of their training DVD but now I'm going to have to wait and see if others thinks it worth $49.00.

Our apologies, there was a typo on the part of the person that input the information on the "coming soon" page that was visible for 24 hours. We have 14 new DVDs releasing all at the same time, and they made an input error. The dual layer DVD offers four hours of information including the bonus chapters, plus has free plugins valued as much as the DVD itself.

This DVD looks excellent. It's really cool that VASST is putting out a training DVD for Vegas Movie Studio. There's so much capability in VMS. Having an expert show what can be done and how to do it is really valuable. I learn faster and retain more with this method of teaching. The books are great for reference and in-depth background but give me the demo-performance method so I can learn directly from the pro's. That's the ticket. And four hours (twice what is normally offered) for $49, that's a bargain. Thanks VASST.

OK. I took the plunge and ordered this training DVD. I'll post here when I get it and use it and let you all know what I think. (I'm a newbie so this should be enlightening.)

By the way, do NOT use a 9 digit zip code on the VASST web site. It causes their shopping cart to crash. It works fine with a 5 digit one. Even allows Paypal, which I appreciated.

Did anyone order this and have you received it yet?

I ordered in on Saturday, March 25th and their web site says they shipped it but I still don't have it.

I ordered my copy on the 28th. I haven't received a response from the company yet on when I should get it.

Does anyone know if can I play this DVD in the UK with a PAL, Region 2 player?
Thanks,
Andy.
Spot|DSE wrote on 4/5/2006, 11:54 AM
Andy, we didn't regionalize the discs, so it should play fine. Bear in mind it's NTSC, so you'll probably have some softening. (most PAL players play NTSC)

By way of apology; we didn't expect anywhere NEAR the response to this DVD that we've received, and our shipping guys were a bit overwhelmed to say the least. They ended up being a couple days behind on getting all orders out, but it appears we're all caught up now.

I guess I should have waited before ordering the training DVD. I went to the VASST website and entered the "savenow" code and discovered a discount of $13.88.

See what happens when you jump the gun and help out a small business?

If there was such an overwhelming response to the training DVD, one would have to ask why you would give a discount? Usually discounts are given to move a product that isn't selling well.
Spot|DSE wrote on 4/5/2006, 6:45 PM
Point taken. We decided to offer the discount on ALL products to apologize to folks if their DVD was late in arriving, but hadn't considered it could be used on the VMS DVD. So, we've removed it for now.
Thank you for the input.
stevec5375 wrote on 4/6/2006, 5:34 AM
Hmm... Well don't get me wrong here. I think it was great that you were offering a discount and I'm sure that I may have helped upset some people on here since you have removed the discount. However, what got me to post about this in the first place was feeling like those of us who were quick to take advantage of your new offering were kind of left out in the cold as far as any discount was concerned.

As Dr. Phil says, "You have to teach others how to treat you." So, given your early discount offering that makes me want to wait a while should you offer another training DVD for VMS so that I can get the discount too.

I'm just trying to make sure we have no misunderstandings. :)

My DVD finally arrived today...I will let you know how the training is!

I am still waiting on my training DVD to come. Lets hope I get it soon.

How long ago did you order it? I ordered mine two weeks ago, and still haven't seen anything, yet. Likewise, my emails to the company have been ignored.

Thanks.
stevec5375 wrote on 4/7/2006, 4:11 PM
I feel your pain. I ordered mine on 3/25 and they said it shipped on 3/28.

I suppose they have no control over the USPS. Didn't they just lay off a bunch of people. My first class parcel delivery has gotten way bad recently. I ordered something from NYC a while back and it took 3 weeks to get to Austin, TX. The postmark indicated that it left NYC on time too.
mschal wrote on 4/7/2006, 11:54 PM
Ordered on March 27th...arrived by UPS not USPS...also included a vasst book on shooting video..nice little extra.
stevec5375 wrote on 4/8/2006, 6:41 AM
I sent them an email and asked them how they shipped it and never got a reply. If it doesn't show up next week, I'm going to enter a Paypal dispute that I never got my merchandise.

If the shipped it UPS you'd think they could have at least given me the tracking number.
skypark wrote on 4/10/2006, 12:11 PM
Update.... I just got my VMS training video by UPS 15mins ago.

Can't wait to view it..
