VMS - Which Version to Get?

I would like to purchase Vegas Movie Studio but am not sure which version to get - platinum or regular. Before you ask, I have installed a copy of the trial version.

Given that I don't use HDV, 5.1 sound or intend exporting to either an iPod or PSP, I won't be using the main features that the more expensive version offers. There are also a number of audio and video effects included in the platinum version but I don't think that I will miss these.

Are there any "killer" features I've overlooked that I might miss if I bought the standard version?

Thanks,
Juergen

I bought VMS+DVD6 3 weeks ago on amazon.co.uk at a bargain price (45 euro postage included). I'm very happy with it. Like you, I don't need high def nor 5.1. There are indeed (much) less FXs and transitions, but in the end, how often do we use those? Do we really need the pixellan snow effect etc? (If you overdo effects, your public will be distracted from the video anyhow.)
Before buying Vegas, I also installed trials Premiere Elements and Magix, but for some reason, these were very slow on my low spec system.
So here are the reasons why I DID choose Vegas Movie Studio 6:
1) It is fast on my low spec machine (amd sempron 3000, 512MB, 60GB hard disk, nvidia Geforece FX Go 5200 64MB).
2) I love the interface design and its snappyness on my system.
3) I love the tweakable effects.
4) This program is very stable, it hasn't crashed once.

Things to consider.
Looking at the comparizon chart, beside the earlier mentioned differences, Platinum offers more NewBlue effects and transitions. If you need them, you want them!
HD support is not working ok. Just look for threads on this forum: scene detection does not work. VMS is unlikely to be patched, only Vegas FULL is patched by sony regularly.
5.1 sound: if you need it, you want it!
