There is a reference in the release notes to some known issue in relation to the USB driver for capturing - you might want to check out what usb drivers your camera is using.

I captured three full minidv tapes yesterday evening without an issue. No dropped frames, and multi-tasking as well (although not a good idea, as starting up some dick-intensive applications, or apps which set screen modes can interrupt capturing and cause dropped frames.)

Hope this helps.

I do use firewire to capture.
Did some more testing.
Since I have still VMS8 installed on the same machine, I directed VMS10 to version 8's capture program. Now capturing seems to work. The funny thing is that vms8 and vms10 come with the exact same vidcap program, version 6.0e build 1000. But, like I said, the version that comes with vms10 is faulty. Perhaps it is the registry?

Seems like a hardware issue is causing the error: the camera's battery is faulty and must me replaced.

Good troubleshooting, but shouldn't that be VMS version independent?
