VMS4 MPEG2 Quality

Subjectively, it seems to me that, although the MPEG encoding in VMS4 is much quicker than in MS3, this is at the expense of quality.

Has anyone found a way to "tweak" the quality settings in VMS4, or must I resign myself to rendering an AVI in VMS4, and then using TMPGENC (dual pass / variable bit rate) to produce an acceptable MPEG file?

Would not VMS4 have the same MPEG2 encoder??
I seriously doubt it would be different from MS3

I have also noticed the improved MPEG2 performance, but I can't say I noticed any difference quality, but then again I wasn't really looking for it. I might try out some tests and see...

Christer: VMS4 appears to use v2 of the MainConcept encoder, unlike SMS3 which used v1.
