VMSP 7. deleting audio track

I add a video event to my project and along comes the audio track that is associated with that video event....How do I delete just the audio portion without deleting the video as well?

I highlight just the audio track..right click...go to delete and the video track is deleted as well.....why? I only want to delete the audio portion, and keep the video portion.

thanks

Nevermind I figured it out.

You have to click the "Ignore Event Grouping" at the top tool bar, near the "Normal editing tool" button

....just FYI

Once you've done that you can adjust the audio and video separately to do J and L cuts.

Or if you are using the trimmer window, you can choose the 'select video only' option before placing your clip on the timeline.

Or one can simply right click on the video event, select "lock", delete the audio portion by selecting it and press Delete button, then deselect "lock" of audio event
