VMSP Won't Capture Now

Zaax wrote on 7/24/2006, 5:43 PM
I have used VMSP in the past with great success. However today it started giving me an error when I hook up my camera.

It says "The device 'Microsoft DV Camera and VCR' could not be opened. Please make sure that it is turned on and not being used by another app or user."

I then went to the Control Panel in XP to Scanners & Cameras. It also sees the camera but gives me the error "Creation of the video preview failed. Please make sure that it is turned on and not being used by another app or user."

Even after a restart both apps still error out. I am using a firewire cable and the camera is a Sony DCR-TRV19.

Does anyone out there have any idea as to what is wrong? Any info on this will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Zack S.

Anything elase change recently on your machine? Here's a swag - go to network connections and make sure that the 1394 network device isn't enabled.

I will give that a try tonight. Thanks!

I disabled the 1394 network device and that did not work. Then I removed VMSP and reinstalled it. Still, it will not capture video from the camera and as an added bonus I cannot install the 6b update. It now gives me a CRC errror! Can it get any better than this? It won't capture or update. Sweet!

Does anyone in the forum have any other suggestions?

Thanks

have you done a virus scan lately? perhaps you caught a bug. I would try enabling your firewire (back to its original state) and try to capture using windows movie maker. that might narrow down the possibilities. you might want to look at the computers system hardware device manager and see if all your stuff is working okay.

good luck with it
