VOB & AVI Files to Delete or Keep?

Being new to this I am not sure what files I need to keep on my computer and which to delete/store elsewhere.

I am done with my 1st project and am not sure now what to do with the resulting memory hogging files. I will of course store the original files (wave/avi/mpeg-2 render/ac-3 render) on a back up of some type.

The VOB files that result from the Preping for burning the DVD are I assume the files needed to do the complete DVD or do I need to keep the MPEG-2 and AC-3 rendered files with the VOB Video and Audio folders created from the prep process.

I understand the process as far as a music project is concerned - i.e. CD of music. Record wav's, mix, render to stero file and that the resulting stero file is what you would need for the CD.

Is the VOB (prep folder) the equivalent to the above and is it all I need to burn more copies of a DVD?

many thanks again to the wealth of knowledge in this forum

In order to burn more copies of the DVD, you need either a) a master copy of the DVD that you can copy, or b) the prep folder (audio_ts and video_ts with the VOB, IFO, etc files). If you do not want the MPEG-2 and AC-3 files, you don't need them.

If you ever want to create another DVD with that content, but with changes (more content, different menus, whatever) without having to re-render the project, then keeping the MPEG-2 and AC-3 would be a good idea. Up to you.

That's what I thought but I didn't want to just start trashing stuff.

Everyone on this site has been more than helpful to us newbies. Thanks again.
