VOB file = jittering image

I extracted video clips from DVD which are in VOB format . Why did the clips jitter after rendering with Vegas? But if extract it and then save it as mpeg2 using sound forge and then render using Vegas the problem stops. Can't vages work with VOB files directly? will the video quality drop if I save it as mpeg2 b4 editing? Please help. Thanks.

Not sure from your description if this would apply, but you might check to make sure there isn't a field order reversal somewhere. That can cause jitter, especially in motion areas.
