.VOB Video File not showing the whole video clip

I have a Sony DCR-DVD305 Mini DVD video camera. It burns DVDs and finalizes them creating .VOB files. Once I transfer the VOB files to my computer. I drag them into Vegas Video. The files never show the full video clip - they only show the first few seconds of the Video File. I think it only is showing the first Chapter of the DVD.

For example, one short movie we filmed is 1:44 minutes long. I know how to extract the audio using my AC3 Deocoder software. The audio drags onto a layer with no problem and shows the full length of the audio clip at 1:44 minutes long. When I take the video clip and drag it onto a video layer it only shows :18 seconds.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Mike

Try using the File / Import / DVD Camcorder Disc function instead of working with the raw .vob file.

I have seen this EXACT same phenomenon.

Try Chienworks recommendation first, but if that doesn't work, try running it through a pass on VMPGENC and render it as an mpeg file. That's what I did and it worked fine when working with the resulting mpeg.

Thanks for responding. I have version 6.0. Is this feature available in my version? All I see when selecting File > Import is:

Media..
AAF...
Broadcast Wave...

Make sure you're running at least 6.0c as that's when this feature was added.
BTW, 6.0d was the final update for Vegas 6.

Yes, I am not quite sure what VMPGENC is, but I did find the software that came with my DVD camera (Sony Software called Picture Package DVD Viewer) and it converts the .VOB files to .MPG files. I can now view these MPG files on the timeline in Vegas.

Thank you all for the assistance.
