vob wrong length

Hi all,

I have searched the these forum and others for an answer and haven't found one. I have vob file from a dvd of material I have transfered from pal vhs for me. I have extracted the audio and drop this and the vob fiile into the vegas timeline.

The problem is that the vob file says that it is only seven seconds long when in fact it is more like 24 minutes long. I would like to avoid converting this vob file in another program.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

You may have to demux the MPEG file out of the VOB. Some of the VOB file structures are complicated and Vegas can't handle them. Use TMPGEnc (the tools section) or similar program to demux. Any of Womble's products will also work.

Thanks for the reply john,

I tried demuxing in TMPGEnc, this gave me a ".m2v" file that would not load in the vegas timeline at all. Am I missing a step in demuxing this vob so that it will play its proper length in vegas?

Thanks again.

Take the m2v file and remux it in TMPGEnc with no audio file. Vegas will only read program streams; m2v's are elementary streams.
