Voice Over Music

I am seeking to create a short audio blurb for distribution on Facebook and Twitter using the new ShoutOMatic account. Using Vegas Platinum 10, I will only use two tracks, Voice and Music. How can I start with music, have the volume reduced during the voice addition, then raise the music volume again? Would it be necessary to use multiple cuts of the music? I would prefer to simply start at volume XXX, start the voice addition while reducing the music to XX, then increase the volume once the voice portion is over. I understand how to use the volume control on the track, but it does not offer (at least to my knowledge) variable setting for different portions of the track. Thanks for any help offered.

It's as simple as creating an audio envelope on your timeline and then adding keyframes to set where the audio levels lower and raise. (I show you how to do it step by step in my books, on Amazon, if you're interested.)

Try this: Place your music on one of your audio tracks. Then right-click on the Track Header (to the right of the timeline) and select Insert/Remove Envelope then Volume. This will add a heavy purple horizontal line through your track. Double-click on this line to add keyframes where needed and raise and lower each keyframe's position to raise and lower the audio level at specific points.

Steve, my sincere thanks for your explanation. I will also search for your book (hopefully available on Kindle) which I presume is geared toward full use of Vegas. I appreciate your taking the time to respond and help with this issue.
