Volume controls

snoox wrote on 6/10/2009, 5:17 AM
I wish to lower and heighten the volume at different points during a single audio track. I did manage to do this a long time ago, by simply pressing down shortcut keys which changed the mouse pointer on the volume allowing me to click which entered like a marker on the volume and there I could lower or highten the volume as required from that point, not affecting the piece before it. But cannot remember which shortcut keys I used. Im a beginner and sorry if this sounds all over the place... Can anybody help please

Insert->Audio Envelope->Volume.

Is this what you're looking for?

To add to what musicvid stated:

- Turn automation on for the track/bus and you can then use the fader of the track in either the time line or the Mix Console View to edit the envelope.

- Use the Shift+mouse key to draw in any volume curve you desire.

These are both great features, esp. like the real time control, although I must admit I haven't played with them that much.

I still edit most of my audio takes in Sound Forge, a habit going back to the days when I received a free copy of XP Studio and got really curious about the interface. Oops, am I dating myself again?

"Oops, am I dating myself again?" - what you do in your private life is no concern of ours ;-!

Hi Peter,
I tried out your suggestion and it worked perfectly for me, I worked through the time line havent ventured into the Mix Console View but will have a look at it now. Many thanks for your help.
