Volume too low on an audio event, odd new blue lines have appeared

The subject line didn't do it justice, and I don't know if I can explain what I'm seeing here, but I'll try. This is the first time, btw, that I've seen something in vegas that I can't explain and can't find help on.

I've made copies of a long audio event and used different pieces at different times. In most cases they are butted up against each other. I've got a standard volume envelope on the one event in question, and can add points and raise and lower at will. However, there is a second blue line going from the bottom left edge of the event up to the top right edge, and from the left top edge to the bottom right. They criss cross in the middle. Is it gain? I don't know, and can't get a tooltip for it. Nor can I move or adjust it any. These criss crossing lines only happen in this audio event, and the volume drops considerably towards the end of the event. I'm not even sure those two things are related, but hope that it is. The volume envelope is at 100%, btw.

Anyway - I guess my question is what are those two criss crossing lines, and would it affect the volume level of the event?

thanks all,
David

Sounds to me like you've got two overlap events with a CROSSFADE between them. Or you've put two copies onto the one track with a slight offset so VV assumes you want to do a VERY long fade between them.

Try highlighting one of the events where this is happening and drag it to an empty track to see what's happening. You will not loose anything doing this BTW.

One of the things I always forget abut VV is how easy it is to just make a project backup and then rip everything apart to see what's happening. Ass VV does nothing to source material either doing this is 100% safe.

Well I'll be.

That was it, exactly. Thank you. 10 minutes for a response, and it was correct, problem solved in 10 minutes and 10 seconds. Sony, are you listening? This is a great community of users. Thanks again.
