Jim,

If you are using CD Architect with Sound Forge XP, the easiest
method might be to use the Normalize function under the Process
menu in XP to put the peaks all at 0db. Then in CD Architect, use
the blue Volume envelopes to turn down the louder files. If you
add volume to a file that is normalized and has peaks at 0dB
already, turning up the volume will create clipping and distortion.

The master Volume does affect the Volume of tracks written to the CD.
