Volumeadjustments in Vegas

Hi

Have a question reg. sound

I have a clip on some footage with two pepople talking, one is quite loaud and one is low.

I have cut the clip in two and want to adjust the level on the low one.

I have tied several things, but it does not seem to give much, though - I might be doing something wrong:

Tried to add "Normalize"
Tried to "mouse over" the clip and got the "tool tip" gain 0 db, but could not get it up higher.
Tried the "V" function to be able to make "rubberbanding" and made keyframes so I cold turn up the volume on the clip, but it seems not to give much either,

Would it be best to open the sound in SF to adjust the volume there?

Thanks

/Ulf

1) Try a volume envelope. You can only get 6dB gain though.
2) Normalising both clips should do the trick though, RClick and select Normalise or Properties and in their tick Normalise.
3) Put the audio clips on different tracks and use the fader it the track header to adjust levels, just watch out for using too much gain and causing clipping.

There are other things you can try if you don't get anywhere, such as compression,
or think backwards - if you can't turn one ttrack up - then turn the other one down.

Normalizing a clip that may have extraneous peaks [such as clicks or pops] will not work unless you suppress those peaks first.
