Voukoder in VMS16P

FayFen wrote on 6/27/2021, 2:24 AM

I installed Voukoder8 to my VMS16P and did few tests.

I loaded ~400 jpg's as slideshow (fades & pan) and render to 1080 25p.

No significant faster render with Voukoder, it took ~9 min on my system (~108%cpu and ~35%GPU)

But when I select VMS to render with it's NVE cuda it took just 2min! (~80%cpu and ~35%GPU)

* VMS crashed at ~50% of my tests at random points both in Voukoder and not.

Thanks. Very interesting as I thought you couldn't use Voukoder with VMS, only VP.

Same to me as Eric. Voukoder is my favourite Encoder in VP, but I never saw it in VMS. Voukoder renders only faster when you're using the GPU H.264/H.265 supporting render templates. The slower standard Voukoder X.264/X.265 rendertemplates use CPU only and render at very good quality at very small filesize.

3point, my tests were video only and I checked H264 recommended and fast.

Can you tell us how you did install Voukoder for VMS. The needed Connector is according Voukoder site only for Vegaspro.

As said the standard Voukoder rendertemplates use CPU(X.264/X.265) only, you have to dive into Voukoder to get GPU renderpossibilities.

Well, I did run the connector and installed Voukoder

There are two connectors (VP12-17) and one for VP18. When running those connectors they're looking for VP installation directories. It's possible to redirect the installation to a VMS directory. A small test I did to redirect the installation to VMS17 directory worked, It showed Voukoder in the advanced render options but I wasn't able to use Voukoder without a VMS crash.

This strokes with the discussion I once had with the publisher of Voukoder, that Voukoder doesn't support VMS.

Conclusion: to use Voukoder in VMS is probably on your own risk.

I don't understand your conclusion, any use of VMS, VP (or any NLE) is at one own risk...

As said before, there's connector for VP12-17 and a separate connector for VP18. There's no official connector for VMS. So installing and using Voukoder in VMS and resulting crashes/issues are at your own risk.

I installed today Voukoder9 rc1 to VMS16P, overall same performance as far as I can see.
