Voukoder not showing up in render options in VP19

Len Kaufman wrote on 8/24/2021, 6:04 PM

Hi...I've installed Voukoder (latest version) and also Magic YUV on my machine. However it is not showing up in the "render as" options. I've rebooted, to see if that might help. Nope. I also have VP18 on the same machine, and Voukoder doesn't show up there either.

Going to extensions, I see the various HO options. Clicking on any one of them produces the message "License date validation failed." This is a 30 day trial version, and I only downloaded it about 3 days ago. The MagicYUV is a paid version.

Suggestions?

Thank you,

Len

Looks like the installer is not working correctly...

based on their forum ( https://www.voukoder.org/forum/thread/883-vegas-19/ ), you need to manually copy it:

To have Voukoder working with V19, I had to uninstall (from V18) and then reinstall with V19 as target.

Is there a way to have it working on both version?

Update:

After installation in V19, I copied:

Voukoder-x64.fio2007-config file from Program Files/Vegas/Vegas 19.0

and

voukoderplug folder from Program Files/Vegas/Vegas 19.0/FileIO Plug-Ins

into the Vegas 18.0 respective folders and it's working for both V18 & V19

Download the newest versions of both Voukoder and the installer and when you run chose remove for both to uninstall the previous. Then run them both again to install and you will find it now shows up in V19.

@set & @andyrpsmith Thank you both. Wasn't sure I could do that as I was operating with the trial version and didn't think I could download again. Trying that now.

Just tried those suggestions. I did find that the trial had not been activated. So I did that. But still no joy. Voukoder does not show up in the "render as" drop down.

When I tried to open it up again ( from the extensions), it said trial not activated. Did that AGAIN, and again, no joy.

"Going to extensions, I see the various HO options. Clicking on any one of them produces the message "License date validation failed." This is a 30 day trial version, and I only downloaded it about 3 days ago."

You must obtain a trial license. I have a record of you signing up but never activating a trial license. To get a trial license, launch Help from any of the toolbars or menu. Once the dialog opens, click on Trial License which will launch the dialog to request a trial license.

One other thing. Make sure that you run the HO setup AFTER installing V19. If not, just re-run setup.

@wwaag Thank you for your reply. Before reading this, but apparently after you checked my account, I had done this at least twice. It provided the approval with the "TRIAL" serial. I can access the various elements in the extensions, but still can't get VOUKODER to show up in the render options. And yes, I installed VOUKODER after installing VP19. It also does not show up in VP18, on the same machine. Further suggestions?

@Len Kaufman

A bit of misunderstanding--Voukoder is not part of HOS. They are completely independent. Having said that, Voukoder is working for me in both V18 and V19.

As @set mentioned, make sure that the file "Voukoder-x64.fio2007-config" has been copied into both the C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 18.0 and C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 19.0 folders and the folder named "voukoderplug" and been copied into both the C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 18.0\FileIO Plug-Ins and C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 19.0\FileIO Plug-Ins folders.

The voukoderplug folder contains just one file, voukoderplug.dll.

Hope this helps.

@wwaag @set @andyrpsmith "Bit of misunderstanding?" Ha, that's like saying the Titanic was just stopping for ice! Thank you for your patience. It's working now.

Its a simple thing, voukoder installs in the Vegas Folder. So if you had VP18 installed, voukoder installed into VEGAS 18 folder. A reinstall will do nothing you only can repair the existing installation. If you uninstall it and start a new installation, you will see in the installer that now the newest Vegas version folder is selected. That said, this means now it should not be anymore visable in VP18, so you have to copy the content which is displayed in the installation folder in the same structur just to the VP18 folder.

@wwaag Hello again. Voukoder is working beautifully, cutting my render time almost in half from what I was using.

I followed the settings suggestions offered by "Scrapyard Films" YT video (after slowing it down to 75% so I could understand him! LOL). He was using Voukoder V9.3, as I am. But in his demo, he showed some options that I don't see, namely the H.264 (AMD). I only see H.264, the implication for me being that it is not recognizing my older graphic card (AMD Radeo R7 240 series with 4gb memory).

And in the "options" tab, he shows a "hardware" category, with GPU option. I don't see a hardware category at all.

However, when I'm actually rendering, using Voukoder, and watching in the Windows performance tab, it does show the GPU working.

Am I missing something here?

wwaag wrote on 8/25/2021, 11:33 AM

@Len Kaufman

Your older video card most likely doesn't support GPU encoding (called VCE for AMD cards). However, it still may support the actual frame encoding inside of Vegas (e.g. adding Fx) and that's the reason it shows it to be working.

@Len Kaufman, @set ummm... this was not a scripting question...

With full V19 and latest Voukoder, rendered file doesn't contain the first 3-4 frames of original video.

This is a bug? Any workaround?
