I'd deactivate (help menu), uninstall and reinstall. Happened to me once before a few years back.

That is certainly not normal behavior at all..... First try and reset Vegas to its default settings by simply holding down Shift + Control when opening Vegas.

If this does not work, then uninstall Vegas and remove all lingering files and folders relating to Vegas. Then re-install by downloading from this link Download , input your serial number properly and then restart Vegas and see if that helps.
