VP 20 getting "open" to always show only projects?

michael-harrison wrote on 8/28/2022, 7:01 AM

Every time I click on the "open..." icon the file dialog shows me project and media files.

The number of times I want to open anything other than a vegas project is always "zero"

Anyone know of a way I can force the dialog to default to only showing project files? Secret pref or registry entry if necessary?

I don't know of any automatic ways but you can do it manually. Just click on the down arrow and select only VEG. But you'll have to do it every time.

Wanna see everything?

Go "Import".

Sorry, no way to make that default. The best solution is what jetdv pointed out doing each time the dialog window opens.

@jetdv @Steve_Rhoden yeah, figured. Thought I'd ask in case. I literally only use that dialog for opening projects so having to mess with the drop-down when I've got a busy directory gets annoying.

@michael-harrison At this point, most of the time I use the Explorer window in VEGAS, right-click on a project, and choose "Open Project".

@jetdv Hmm, I might have to try using the vp explorer more. It's usability isn't as good as the windows explorer, which isn't saying much, but opening projects is quicker, with a double-click.

I delight in using the Vegas Explorer. I have a very large library of media, motion graphics & vfx content to shift through when editing, and previewing them to choose the perfect clip/s to drag on the timeline is stress free using VP explorer.

Same pet peeve here. I never want to “open” a media file; I would want to “import” or drag and drop it.

Simple solution would be for Vegas to permanently remember the last drop down item selected, like many programs do.
