VP 23 does not render correctly or crashes.

Been using VP since version 13, latest was 22. VP23 looks good in general, but I am facing two nasty things (project was established with VP22):

1.) I have added text entries on top tracks. I don't see them in the preview if GPU is disabled. To see them I need to keep GPU enabled.

2.) Rendering halts every time if GPU is enabled. If disabled, I don't get the texts in the output.

VP 22 did not have this problem. Admit, my HW is a tad old, AMD 5900HX with integrated graphics, drivers from 2023. I just ordered a new laptop with HX 370 and 5070Ti. Hopefully it works better, but to me it looks like a bug if the preview or output does not show everything regardless of the GPU setting.

Spent a couple of days with the project, rendering the 36 minute video takes about 3 hours. It is a bit slow to test. I could tolerate the rendering time (hopefully the new hw will help) if it wouldn't crash and include all tracks in the output.

Any tips welcome!

Without actually having your laptop, it is really hard to diagnose the preview problem. How much dedicated RAM do you have allocated to the iGPU? What is the "default" iGPU RAM? And obviously, why haven't you updated the iGPU drivers?

Can it be changed in the BIOS settings?

Hi, thank you for quick reply. I wrote the question hoping that there would be a workaround. However, as the laptop I ordered will arrive today, so I will test again with the new HW. Let's hope for the best.

Could you try a known good project like either in my signature and render to MagixAVC with Mainconcept or NVENC?

Hi, tried the sample project and it rendered wo flaws, but it was extremely slow (in the old computer).

Now the new computer is in use and it works like a charm, rendering speed is 10-11x compared to the old one. No halts and all tracks appear in the result. So the new HW solved the problem (this is with W11, old one is W10). Conclusion: Nvidia with VRAM is a safer bet than the integrated GPU.

Anyway, thank you for the responses!

For VP 21.300 and newer the dedicated GPU is better than the integrated GPU with all media it supports (10-bit 422 HEVC still benefits from an Intel iGPU or Arc unless you have a 50XX GPU).
