How many years have I been using VP? I've just now added Split to an empty CSP2 Button. I feel so dumb that I hadn't realized before now - this is a revelation. Now I go: Play>>Split>>Play>>Split . I'm now toggling between the Play Button and my new Split Button keeping the narrative alive and flowing.
Not only a split button. I assigned also two split+trim buttons. One button splits and trims start and one button splits and trims end of a clip.

Now is there a Command that will allow a Selection Spanning the Split to audition/review the new Edit? Like 2 or 3 seconds Selection? Yeah I can Drag a Mouse and can also make a KS Selection prior to Split or after Split, but not spanning the Split. Any thoughts?
Yes that I'm missing too in Vegas to quickly change/split the length of a clip to a desired length (1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 seconds)
An automatic loop selection creation, I don't know. I can slightly remember that there's a shortcut to play a short part of the timeline around the cursor, but I'm not sure if this in Vegas or in another NLE.

The numeric keyboard "0" (zero) will audition around the cursor location. You can set how much it auditions under preferences. If "LOOP" i selected it will play it continuously, if it is deselected it will play it once.

@DMT3 When I understand you right that's exactly what shortcut alt+[ and alt+] does or following buttons at the toolbar:
I changed them to A and D key besides the S(plit) key.
