VP v.10e - Upgrade or Not + Which Version = Equivalent?

Soniclight-2.0 wrote on 6/11/2017, 1:36 AM

I started on v.6, then to v.8, at 10e on Win 7 64-bit OS. Due to low involvement in editing ("semi-pro" serious hobbyist, not a job or business), nave no 4K cam -- or 3-D -- and no need for editing/creating either.

Hence why I didn't bother upgrading. And...

Since now there are 3 versions of VP, it's also confusing. I don't want to end up with a "downgrade" to a slightly better version of Movie Studio (never owned that). I also don't need DVD Architect - my copy is fine.

Truth is, I believe I may have downloaded a trial for 13 or 14, and/or saw enough screenshots and specs, still not particularly impressed. Same GUI (why, oh why, can't one choose jet black instead of the same old battleship gray?) etc. I'm sure under-the-hood, it's better, but even H265 isn't used much either.

I know, I'm already talking myself out of this and as usual, tight on money. But would appreciate someone who has traveled through and from at least v.8 and upgraded to give me a sense of it there would be any value in upgrading.

So IF, I were to upgrade -- which version would be equivalent to what I have? Not an unnecessary bundle that I won't use, not a downgrade from what I have.

Pro Edit, Pro or Pro Suite?

(BTW, no intention to go to Win 10 OS, don't need touch-screen and such. As with XP, Win 7 is stable (99% of the time) - I skipped every Win OS between XP and Win 7. Plus, concerns about backward compatibility - got little 32-bit handy utilities, Steinberg Cubase 6 and other stuff that run just fine. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." )

Thank You.

I have 10 &dvd 5.2/6. I see no reason for me to upgrade. Everything so far works great on windows 10 and it does everything I need.

If you want to just upgrade Vegas and nothing else get the edit version.

Thanks, you are rowing in same boat more or less--though I'm sticking to Win 7 as added in OP above.
