VP13 NtDll.dll Startup crash

Psychotropic Films wrote on 4/21/2014, 11:38 AM
So I uninstalled Go-Pro Studio from my Windows 8.1 machine as discussed here on the forum, but now VP13 crashed on start-up at the "C:/windows/System32/NtDll.Dll" file. This is a Windows file that is not suppose to be deleted, but somehow frequently gets corrupted or infected by malware. I tried copying/replace the same file from my other Windows 8.1 computer but can't get past the 'administrative' rights dialog.

Any suggestions? If I get through this roadblock on start will I actually be able to get this program to launch?

If you think a system file is corrupted, then run the system file checker utility. If the file is not as it should be then it will be replaced.

If NtDLL is bad, then nothing on your system would work. That DLL implements much of the core APIs which all applications use, including the OS.

A crash in a system DLL does not mean there is something wrong with that file. If an application passes garbage to an API you will get access violations in that code.

Garbage IN -> Garbage Out.

Thanks NormanPCN:

I found the instructions for the file checker utility here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

I'll run it when I get home from work; but the rest of my 'system' is running fine, so I hoping Sony will come out with a fix for this.

Thanks for your suggestion...Bart

I had this same issue right off the bat. I ended up uninstalling everything Vegas 12 related. I then removed anything Vegas related from the registry via RegEdit.

Reinstalled, this time I got an error with a TechSmith Camtasia file. Removed Camtasia and the offending .dll file. Finally it worked.

Not an encouraging way to start a new release...

Hi Dan:

I have Camista Studio also (and Go-Pro Studio). How many of our favorite programs and plugins do we have to uninstall to get VP13 to work?

A program on version 13 shouldn't be having these fundamental functionality problems. Bart

I performed the file integrity scan per: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

and the result was that no corrupted system files were found. Therefore, the Ntdll.dll file that's hanging-up the start of VP13 is not the fault of this Windows system file.

I had the same problem on my desktop. I updated all of my NewBlue packages and the error went away. I had Titler Pro, Titler Pro2, 2 Motion effects packages and 6 of the video essentials packages. Before I loaded Vegas on my laptop, I updated all of the NewBlue packages and did not have an error on startup.

My systems are running Windows 8.1.1
