VP16: Hit MUTE and I ALSO get a MUTE Envelope?

Grazie wrote on 2/9/2019, 3:25 AM

It's that MUTE Button in the Track Header. I don't believe this was true before? Was it? Is there an EXTRA control to stop this happening? And I've checked I haven't the MUTE Envelope selected.

TIA - Grazie

@Eagle Six -Thanks for checking for me. So, you click on what in the Track Header?

Huh . . .

I do have 2 Tracks on LATCH, - ie, AUTOMATION. I have 1 Tack with NO AUTOMATION and that does NOT isert a Mute Envel. :

Of course AUTOMATION will insert a MUTE Envelope - if MUTED. I must remember that. So, whilst using my control surface, with LATCH and TOUCH I must not it the Track Header for MUTE-ing.

Hmmm .. ? Just tried with my Control Surface and that too INSERTS a MUTE Envelop. Not what I want or expect.

Thanks again @Eagle Six - G

@xberk - Thanks for confirming. Read my last post.

Yeah my workaround? Stop being Creative.... Momentarily UNCHECK Automation; do my Control Surface Thang; Stop; Remember to ACTIVATE Automation; Back to Control Surface. Seeeshh...

I just realized I've never used a "mute envelope" -- or "Latch Automation" ..

Wow, me neither!! Thanks for the suggestion @Grazie, I'm going to try it and LIVE Again!! Although I don't know why! But letting my wild side out seems appealing...

Ok. I played with Latches ... takes me back to my TV production days when I ran the audio mixing board while we taped a "live" show (no stopping tape). I like doing all the audio mixing in slow motion, creating my own envelope points precisely. But I can see that "latches" might have it's uses for speeding up the workflow.

In movie production, I never ran the mixing console but certainly understood how to get all tracks ready for a mix. We mixed all the tracks at once. Does "latches" go track by track?

@xberk - Yeah, you can do Latching Track by Track, but using a BUS, here BUS A, I can slide all tracks together. Sweet 😎 ....

@xberk - If you look closely at the Waveforms they've all "LATCHED" at the same time, together.

xberk wrote on 2/9/2019, 4:24 PM

Hmmmm ... for the kind of stuff I do, each track needs a different level. For example, live sound, music background, voice over, sound fx. 4 tracks but each with a different level.

@xberk - Yes indeed. I understand your requirements. I have an 8 Port Fader and I can have 1 > 8 and then add more Channels as BANKS. This/these can have individual Latched-Envelopes applied to all of them and controlled independently.
