VP17 iPhoneX Black frames in Preview. But not in.....

VP16 preview. What gives? And what has been your experience?

I’m doing a 60th Year Birthday Celebration. I’m getting a flow of Media from family and friends, a trickle at first but I’ve been assured that this will grow. I’m editing in VP17, but this intermittent Black in Preview has got me worried. As I said, in VP16 it appears good. The additional concern is that that media from the same iPhoneX yesterday Previewed WITHOUT this issue, no Black frames. And no, when I go Frame by Frame on the Timeline, there aren’t any Black or Missing Frames.

Any ideas will be gratefully received.

@Grazie Do your project in vp16, until such time, if ever, that vp17's memory issues are resolved. Those issues have been mentioned numerous times, with workarounds, i.e. setting dynamic ram preview to zero, reducing the default cpu threads setting etc. It may be tied into gpu memory usage/availibility in some way.

The last update of vp17 may improve this, you never know. The last update of most vp versions is usually the one to go for, I think magix should sell 2 new versions of vp in future, maybe starting with vp18, the normal version, and the extra deluxe version that has all of the future updates already embedded. Time Machine required of course.

Maybe convert any vfr media to constant frame rate. Smartphone media is often VFR, which may require more memory usage.

@Grazie Another tip re: black frames appearing is to make sure that the options in settings/General for closing all media files if not the active application is not enabled. I think the constant closing and opening of vp files leaks more memory, if you are constantly switching to other apps while editing.

@JN- Try this link: https://videoconverter.wondershare.com/

And the speed it smashes through Media is just outstanding. My i9 just loves it. If you like to try the DEMO. It’s going to have some restrictions, sure, but just the dozen media clips that have come from a Range of Mobile phones - I don’t even need to know - it presses on. The PC Fans go into Overdrive and my CPU is being fully and efficiently topped at 100%!
