VP18 (482) Master Bus has stopped showing Audio level

diverG wrote on 3/26/2021, 8:25 AM

All of a sudden I notice audio levels not showing on Master Bus, otherwise audio appears OK.
Close project and open an old 'test' project that was previusly OK. Again no levels showing in master bus.

Close project, close Vegas.
Re open Vegas.  Load project.  Master Bus now working correctlty.

Manual was not overly helpful.

What might I have accidentaly clicked to kill the Master Bus? Thanks

There's the small x in the bottom right. Also it appears that if you enable "Audio mixing" Alt+D+A, when u close it the master bus goes away also.

Under "View" Window layouts/Default gets it back. Also ALT-3 gets it back.

'B' toggles track audio bus on/off.

The Master Bus window does not disappear, merely the 'green' signal levels vanish. Killing the window (small x) and restoring the panel does not clear the problem. Sorry I should have stated that in the origonal post.

The fact that closing vegas & reopening the project clears the problem suggests it may be a bug.

I cannot think of another scenario off-hand but it is possible the master meter scale got changed (0 to -12dB), and your master levels are below the meter scale threshold. Right-click the meter to select a different scale (assuming VP-18 is the same as VP-16 and earlier).

Failed again late afternoon. Had another problem in that I could no longer delete files from bin. Closed out & restarted vp holding ctrll+shift. Cleared both issues but have concerns re VP stability.

Will follow your advice & get to know master bus a little better. Thanks.

Failed again late afternoon.

If the behavior is intermittent, the meter scale would not be the cause.
