VP18 and SF14

I will be getting this combination soon. I've read about how you can "round trip" your audio from VP to SF and back.

How is this done? I know you can choose what audio editor you can use (Preferences>Audio Tab), but how within SF do you send it back to the timeline in Vegas? Is there a "menu" for this?

Thanks!

By closing down SF, but if you want to be sure you can save the edited file and switch after closing SF both files.

There's a tool in HappyOtterScripts, Open Audio Editor, that enables non-destructive editing of your audio files. For selected audio events, it renders a lossless wave file which is then edited in an audio editor of your choosing. The edited file can then be added back as a new track or a take to the original audio event. Here's a demo.

I should add that use of this tool does NOT require purchase of the entire HOS script package. There is a free license that can be used. You can find more information and download at https://tools4vegas.com/.

AKA the HappyOtter at https://tools4vegas.com/. System 1: Intel i7-8700k with HD 630 graphics plus an Nvidia RTX4070 graphics card. System 2: Intel i7-3770k with HD 4000 graphics plus an AMD RX550 graphics card. System 3: Laptop. Dell Inspiron Plus 16. Intel i7-11800H, Intel Graphics. Current cameras include Panasonic FZ2500, GoPro Hero11 and Hero8 Black plus a myriad of smartPhone, pocket cameras, video cameras and film cameras going back to the original Nikon S.

To open an event (or file) in Sound Forge from the VP timeline. If you wish to just work on a particular event's audio. right-click the audio event and select "Open copy in audio editor" This creates a new take (file) to work one in SF and places it over the top of the original event. Changes to the event will be updated in VP automatically. btw, in VP, if you wish to return to the original event take (or create a another take), select the event and the takes can be toggled using the keyboard shortcut 'T' .

If you wish to work on the entire event file in SF, right-click the event and choose "Open in audio editor". This does not create a new take and edits the entire file directly in SF (destructive editing) so upon saving, the changes are permanent .. so be aware.
