VP8: Moving Events + Makers (A Vid-Ditty How-To)

The last thread on this topic meandered into other pastures, which is fine.

Since I figured it out, I made a short how-to Flash and accompanying downloadable .wmv in case there are others here who would like to know how to do this.

Maybe there are no such creatures at this forum. Dunno.

--- It could have been a few seconds shorter and faster, but I already spent way too much time on it (reached point of cussing at myself out loud, ergo, time to knock it off :)

--- It's got some artifacts here and there due to compressed screen capture but it's quite viewable.

--- No Flash player controls yet, still a hair away getting that coding down.

It's my first visual how-to contribution to this board, as opposed to asking Qs visually (music is also by me, an 2002 composition but it still holds up).

Let me know what you think, oh Ye Vegas Forum Wise Ones :)

I've already picked it apart mentally as to what's wrong about it, but you know how that goes... :p
That said, might as well learn something more from you all, so here goes.

Artifacts Reduction/Elimination for Screen Captures?

(Here is what I did in said vid-ditty::

--- I did the.swf off of the .wmv, then on a HuffUV 2.1.1 .avi but it looked just as bad in both. So it must be due to that...

--- I used the default Microsoft Video 1 compression at 70% quality for the original, (and 1/4 longer than what you saw) in-Vegas shot using the nifty and free CamStudio screen-cap app.

Specs of said original file in Media Manager:

-1020x700x16
- 200.000 fps,
- no alpha, progressive
- 41 Mb.

Here are the codec options in CamStudio:

Aside from the usual "Configure" that most codecs include, there are also some options in CamStudio when "AutoAdjust" is unchecked. Below are their default values - which got into what you saw since I didn't think ahead to choose otherwise:

- (Slider for Quality with usual 0-100: Default: 70)
- Set Key Frames Every: 200 frames

Framerates:
- Capture Frames Every: 5 milliseconds
- Playback Rate: 200 frames/per second

Any suggestions on improving future vid-ditties of this sort -- using what I have (CamStudio)?
