... vro format conversion ...

I have some wonderful video recorded in .vro format . . . it appears it is a Sony BD format...?
The overall folder name of the folder is: Sony_bd_recorder_volume ...
The files in that folder are: VR_Mangr.bup; VR_mangr.ifo; and VR_movie.vro ...
* * *
I tried just dragging the .vro file into the timeline of Vegas PRO 10.0 without success.
I just copied it to a hard drive and renamed it to m2t as was once suggested here for .vob files without success...
They play just fine in Win 7 Media Player, so I feel as though I am close to converting them...
Perhaps there is an easy drag and drop OR renaming option that I'm not aware of...

Any suggestions?

Until that time ... Earl J.

VRO is just another name for VOB from set-top DVD recorders and some Handycams.
It think yours is SD. Have you tried "Import Camcorder Disc" in Vegas?

Disclaimer: I have not tried the following with Handycam material, only with a Panasonic set-top.

Almost all PVR material contains indexing errors, and Vegas does not like these.
Solution is to run it through VideoRedo first using their "Quickstream Fix" utility, and I like to save as .mpg or .vob
That realigns all the GOPs without touching the video, except it may discard a few frames that are too bad to use, esp. right at the beginning. Takes but a minute.

VideoRedo has a free trial period, the "Plus" version (less expensive) should work fine with your files, has an ad cutter, trimming and joining, batch processing, etc.

Thanks musicvid,
I'll give it a try. . . I did download the free AnyVideo package... it didn't work...

UPDATE: Tried the import DVD... it worked for the VOB on one disk, but the .vro is broken... (sigh)
I'll find something, no doubt...
UPDATE:AGAIN It's a strong CPRM (?) protection . . . One would think that since it is a Sony recorded piece of video, Sony products should be able to edit the same ... appears not... (sigh)
Nothing found so far. . . (11/11/2011)

Until that time . . . Earl J.
