Under Win XP pro in Vegas 8, it seems that for every VST plugin I assign to a track, I get an extra 6dB of unexpected gain, not including anything the plug may be doing to alter the sound. (1 plug =6dB, 2 plugs = 12dB, etc.) Bypassing the plugs individually or with the track "bypass plugs" button doesn't remove the extra gain. Using the global "bypass all plugs" button DOES remove the gain. I tried both ASIO and normal wave out and get the same behavior. Direct X plugs don't do it. Vegas 7 doesn't do it.
Anyone else experiencing this? Seems like a glaring problem but perhaps there's something wacky with my system somehow.
p.s. I posted this on the audio forum this morning but there's not much activity over there. I hope this cross post is okay.
