VST plug-ins

Excuse my ignorance, I have not been at this digital (software based) recording long (although I must say I am getting some really excellent results with Vegas). I see a lot of VST plug-ins on the net etc. and was wondering if these work in Vegas. Is this just a Cubase thing or do they run on different apps such as Vegas etc? Thanks

PS - I am using the Vegas LE version to get my feet wet and will be upgrading to the full product soon.

VST is an open format used by Cubase, nuendo, SAW, Logic, and others and includes now the UA DSP card which would be really really really nice to have!

SF in a fit of wisdom( possibly the same type of wisdom that decided to discontinue CD Architecht, and create SF 5) decided not to allow VST in vegas.

You can get a DirectX plug-in that will allow you to use VST plug-ins. I think it's called "VST Wrapper" or something like that? Check out the download page at www.prorec.com

the dx to vst adapter is GREAT! but:
even with the adapter, you can NOT use many vst plugs, like some of prosoniq's and way more importantly:
you can NOT use the UA DSP card

Angus H has stated he is working on a fix to make the
VST adapter work with UAAudio card. Also if you really want that card to work with Vegas email UAAudio
and let them Know Direct X support is important too.

The instant I heard about the UA card, I e-mailed them asking if they supported direct-x, no reply.
That was then, this is now :)

How about this, is there a way to make a form letter style e-mail, and anyone here interested could aslo sign and send it? Maybe that would get their attention!
Anyone know how to do this ?

Fxpansion has released a nifty Direct-x to VST adapter called the VST - DX adapter. They have three versions for sale on the site. You can even dowload demo's to try it out. I have tried many VST adapters, and so far this one seems like it's the best...

An online petition for the UA card would be interesting. Very interesting!!!

I think I saw one of those online voting things on an automotive site once, to force a MOPAR race to allow a mopar powered toyota pick up. Now I cant find it, but surely someone knows how to set that thing up ?

And BTW the vst to dx adapter as yet doesnt work with many prosoniq plugs and certainly not with the UA dsp

After you have uncompressed the VST to DX file, you must go to the folder were the VST to DX program is installed and configure the application to work. Afterwards you should be enjoying the benefits of VST pluggins... Not that they are better than DX... Now if they could just get the RTAS plug-ins to work

AMEN to the RTAS brother! I wish there was a wrapper so we could use the bombfactory stuff.
