The $399 upfront cost doesn't seem bad at all, I paid about that for a SD STB decoder when they first came out. Also compared to the cost of a HDTV / monitor it's pretty minor. The big question that I don't see answered on their site is what the movies will cost to buy / rent. If they get that right it'll fly.

On a technical note they're saying a 3Mb/sec pipe is all you need for instant gratification. If they're feeding HD content down that pipe then the bitrate has to be below that which is a bit of a worry.

I think I remember seeing the price between .99 cents and 3.99.

I just looked it up and I was right, plus it is 4.99-19.99 for movies you buy. (the .99-3.99 was for rentals).

looks no different then the same thing as on-demand with digital cable but w/o cable. IE like Vonage.

could be pretty cool. Someone like me who doesn't want to pay $$ for satellite & can't get cable could get movie rentals for $1 & save the trip to town.

FAQ makes it sound like they don't have HD content yet, just SD.
