Whenever you start VVCap3.0, a box appears offering you three choices:

1) Don't capture any clips now
2) Start capturing clips from current tape position
3) Start capturing clips from the beginning of the tape.

Just click the button in front of the option you want to use.

If you've interrupted a capture session, and want to reposition the tape, I'm guessing the easiest thing to do would be to exit vidcap3.0 and restart it to bring up that three-choice dialog box again.

Also, 3.0 has a tab for advanced capture. I haven't played with it yet, but there appears to be a provision to manually set the in/out points on the tape (via time code), and also a provision to manually enter the duration (of the capture session, I presume).

Again, I've only looked at this, not played with it or read about it in the manual.

Hope this helps.

You could just ffwd to the middle of the tape and start capturing via the Capture Video button on the Capture tab, this will also break up the scenes on the tape automatically for you and create a clip for each scene.

Or you could use the Advanced Capture tab and set multiple in-out points based on timecode (make sure you have continuous timecode on the tape, so that multiple timecodes don't exist) and then use Batch Capture to automatically capture the clips for you. Note, that DV scene detection is not used in this case, since you have specified the in-out points.

Also, you don't need to restart Vidcap to get the tape change dialog to pop, simply eject the tape (don't even need to physically take the tape out), and then insert the tape.
