VV/GL-1/DV-500 blues

I have Vegas Video installed on a 950 mHz Athlon machine with a Pinnacle DV-500 card on it and a Canon GL-1 camera. I have yet to get the Vegas capture/print facility to work at all. I would rather use Vegas than Premiere, but rendering a Pinnacle-avi format in Premier is the only way that I can print to tape.

Would I be better off ripping the DV-500 out and installing a Pyro card? Has anyone gotten a Canon GL-1 to work with Vegas Video? If so, what capture card are you using and what render settings have you used?

I'm really frustrated and I need to get this to work. Whatever I need to change, I will change.

It wouldn't hurt to buy a $50 pyro card and try. I use a Pyro card no problems. Try the pyro card and see. If you still have problems post more info on your system. Like motherboard and etc. The chipset on your mobo may also be causing problems.

If you want an even cheaper fix, you can find OHCI compliant 1394 firewire cards on pricewatch.com for $22+s+H. Mine worked great..
