VV renders everytime the whole scene

Topsurfer wrote on 8/16/2002, 8:52 AM
Hi,
a little bit confused:
I put one scene in the timeline and try to print this scene to the DV-Camera.
The VV told me: "More than 80% must be rendered". I do nothing with the clip (no audio- or video-effects etc.)
I think, the project-properties are corrcet: PAL DV, audio format etc, all the same like the captured scene. But VV will render ...

Have I forgett one option to set or what can be the reasen for this? In an other thread someone told me, that this is not normal. Whats wrong ...

Can it be a problem with codec. The captured one has "Canopus Codec"

If you want to print the scene to camera without "being rendered again," do it in VidCap -- but put a few seconds of "black" just before it, as Print to Tape (at least for me) cuts the first second or two of the first file in the media list.

Hi Martin...

Vegas will render any footage not captured using VV3 capture.

You might verify that "ignore third-pary codecs" is checked and "Use MS DV codec" is un-checked in yer Vegas preferences.

Then you can do a test outputting a short clip captured in Vegas.

Also check that you haven't bumped an opacity slider at the track head or on the events (the line at the top of each event).

Hi Martin...

"Vegas will render any footage not captured using VV3 capture."

That's not true. Vegas does not re-render the Type 2 AVI's captured with Scenalyzer Live.

It also does not need to rerender video captured from Pinnacle Studio DV.

Wow, I stand corrected...

SO, when y'all print to tape, Vegas only renders the processed footage (fx transitions), and leaves the rest?

I'm really curious about this...

Yes, with footage captured from Scenalyzer, only the parts that have dissolves or other effects are rendered. The rest just plays straight. I assume this would be true for ANY Type 2 DV AVI.

This is pretty cool. I had an interest in optical detection applications, but didn't want to take the hit on render time using an outboard capture. This is good news.

Thanks for setting me straight!

Yes, I HAVE to use a different capture utility in order to capture audio tracks 3 & 4 (stereo 2) on a 4 channel recording. If Vegas had that, I would use the built-in capture full-time. By the way, Scenalyzer Live has an optical scene detection mode. I have not used it so I don't know how well it works. The other features seem to work well.
