Anyone running VV under any of the variants of Win2k or XP for double byte languages such as Korean or Chinese?
It looks like I may have an upcoming job shooting and editing a video for a Chinese audience. The dialogue maybe either chinese or english but either way it'll need chinese subtitles.
I believe I can use a script to read TC and matching text in to automate the subtitling but I'm a bit nervous about how everything is going to hang together with double bytes characters. I believe windows suports unicode but from what I can glean that only hadles simpified chinese. If they want real chinese characters I have to use specialised font sets to boot.
I know I could generate and render the subtitles elsewhere but I'm looking at a longform production with 100s of subtitles and going down that road is going to be very inflexible.
We have tried running chinese Word under english windows but found it runs much more reliably under chinese windows.
