VV teh way of the Dodo? Just a thought

Well I guess with the latest reports of Sonic Foundry selling of part of their hardware line, it looks like we won't be seeing VV4.0 anytime in the near future if at all?

What do you think DSE?

I for one like many others would hate to see VV go the way of the Dodo. The program would be in great hands as long as the development comes on board with whoever purches it.
Just a thought, maybe Corel might think about looking into it and try to jump into the video field. Since they seem to want to compete with Adobe.
With the VV braintrust and Corel's marketing and money behind it, VV might finally get the recognition that it so readily deserves and unseed Prmiere as a video editor of choice for PC users.

Well here's to the future and a wild ride ahead.

That is a thought, but Corel is not exactly bringing in wheelbarrows
full of money.

I hope Corel doesn't get VV, they make crappy software with counter intuitive interface designs (Corel Draw anyone?)

Corel isn't what it used to be. They made some major blunders in the recent past, like buying WordPerfect (really dumb) and trying to launch their version of Lynix. Their flagship product, Corel Draw is getting old and I haven't even considered upgrading for several years, because it is too expensive for what you get and adds little to the feature set that's been around for years.

For those that don't know, MainConcept (a German company) had a decent video editor out for years that is a look alike to Vegas, or was it the other way around?

Consumer software companies come and go, few manage to get big like Microsoft because they don't know squat about mareketing. Billy G KNOWS marketing. That's why they sell tons of "average" software.

If VV is sold, my money would be on Sony as the buyer. They already have screenblast, which is videofactory and they are already comfy with the professional market in the way of equiptment. Diving into the NLE market for consumer, prosumer and pro seems likely. Even Vaio's are now bundled with ACID and Sound Forge as options, or at least watered down versions anyways. Seems like SoFo and Sony currently has a relationship. It wouldn't surprise me at all. -Shon

I dont think it's if anymore---but who? Sony, Canopus, etc. your guess is as good as mine---What a bunch of morons are sitting in the executive offices at Sonic. Godbless the workers like Dr. Dropout and the other creators---I wish them the best!

My $10 says M-Audio will be the "hidden purchaser" in the long run. T-minus 58 days and counting...

I read that Pinnacle is buying Steinberg. After suffering woefully with Premiere, way back in 1997, I finally gave up on it and moved to Pinnacle Studio DV then Studio 7. In the years before I discovered SoFO and VV3, I spent many times cursing that company for their very poor customer support and faulty programming. They have a great forum...almost as good as the COW, but, jeeez, I hope Pinnacle doesn't get Vegas.

Corel Draw is less of a program than a bunch of programs. That's what makes it so hard to use. If they streamlined everything into a single program, it wouldn't be so bad. Now if you want to see real bad UI, check out Ulead.
