I've been shooting 16:9 with Sony PD-100 DVCam. How do I capture in this format to edit and then play it back on regular tv with these two black bands up and down the screen?

Capture normally, render as DV widescreen.

You mean, I'll get this vertically stretched image for all the editing? Is there a way to have the previews "on the spot" with the black bands?
And I noticed I get REAL 16:9 when I set on "square pixels"...is that normal? There's so many options for the settings I get a little confused here and I don't wanna start wrong with the system...

Make sure the footage is interpreted as widescreen, and make sure you use a widescreen project- that's pretty much all you need to do.
